On Friday, March 23, Jewish residents at Paul’s Run Retirement Community, in Northeast Philadelphia, attended a special Shabbat service that was dedicated to the generosity of the Golden Slipper Camp, of Bala Cynwyd, for loaning their Sefer Torah for the winter months, while a permanent Torah was acquired.
“It was such blessing to the Jewish community here at Paul’s Run to have the Golden Slipper Camp’s Torah loaned to us,” says Paul’s Run Chaplain, Stephen Weisser, who dedicated the regular Friday Shabbat service as way of thanks to the non-profit that has been providing young people with an enriching camp experience in the Pocono Mountains since 1948.“Like all holy books, the Torah is central to worship life and the generous loan brought the sacred and holy to our Friday night Shabbat services.”
