Paul’s Run Retirement Community, a service of Liberty Lutheran, celebrated the marriages of ten couples with a marriage vow renewal ceremony. Pastor Steven Weisser officiated the service before a packed house in the auditorium of the Northeast Philadelphia community. The couples sat at the front of the room, side by side, and recited the vows to each other.
“They held each other’s hands, they looked in each other’s eyes, and redid those vows and meant it deeply from their hearts,” said Jeri Iocono, Paul’s Run Life Enrichment Manager, who organized the event. “It was lovely,” she added.
The youngest couple has only been married 28 years, Jeri explained. Three have been married more than 70 years, including David and Shirley Sheinson, who tied the knot 72 years ago.
“We don’t argue too much. I love him very much and whatever he thinks I think is a good idea. And if I don’t I just shush my mouth,” Shirley said with a smile.
“I love her very much,” David told the crowd. “I am the luckiest guy in the world.”
