Thanksgiving is a time when we traditionally pause to consider everything we appreciate about our lives and those that surround us. It also reminds us that there are many people in our community who are less fortunate — individuals who go without food or shelter, children who need loving and stable homes, families that are plagued with violence, seniors who are poor and homebound, refugees who are arriving in Pennsylvania with little more than the clothes on their back and flip flops on their feet. The list goes on.
After you finish your “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday” holiday shopping, please consider giving back to your community and helping so many in need with a gift to Liberty Lutheran on what is known as “Giving Tuesday” – Tuesday, December 2.
Liberty Lutheran and our Family of Services are joining other organizations, charities, community centers, businesses, families, students and others from across the world for the #GivingTuesday philanthropic movement.
It’s really a simple idea. One day. One concept. Give back to organizations serving the community and tell everyone you know to do the same! Be a part of a national celebration of our great tradition of generosity.
Liberty Lutheran provides vital resources for individuals and families facing life-changing situations, from the earliest stages of life through the many stages of aging. Last year alone, we touched the lives of more than 61,000 people through the work that we do. The Liberty Family of Services are creating communities and changing lives by offering our help and support to people of all ages throughout Eastern and Central Pennsylvania.
Maybe you know us better for our individual programs and services, such as Lutheran and Children Family Service (adoption, foster care, BOOST after-school program, summer camp, refugee resettlement services,) Philadelphia Refugee Mental Health Collaborative, Lutheran Congregational Services, Lutheran Disaster Response-Eastern PA, Liberty at Home, Liberty Hospice, The Becoming Center, West Philadelphia Senior Community Center and our senior living communities – Artman, The Hearth at Drexel, Paul’s Run Retirement Community and The Village at Penn State.
These are just some of the ways we have been able to make a vital difference in the lives of those who need help in our communities:
EDUCATION: This year the BOOST after-school program supported the growth and development of more than 1,100 students with an attendance rate of 90%+. Your financial gift will support a child’s education for a week, a month or an entire year!
STARTING A NEW LIFE: Liberty will assist hundreds of refugees this year who’ve fled to the U.S. after unimaginable persecution and trauma in their home countries. Your gift helps us provide a wide range of refugee resettlement, employment/job training, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, immigration legal services, and community integration supports for the growing refugee population throughout Pennsylvania.
REBUILDING LIVES THROUGH DISASTER RESPONSE: Lutheran Disaster Response – Eastern Pennsylvania support disaster prepared and recovery efforts throughout 19 counties of Eastern Pennsylvania.
Join the national movement on #GivingTuesday – December 2 – and show your support for Liberty Lutheran and its Family of Services. As a non-profit social service organization, we depend on your generosity to provide valuable programs and services to those that need it most. Thank you!
