When Wilhelmina Henry retired four years ago she knew that she needed something to help her stay busy and active. “I had heard that a lot of people who retire are unhappy because they lack structure,” she said. Alex Grande, a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sumneytown, attended the recent asset mapping workshop with Luther Snow, hosted by Lutheran Congregational Services.“The philosophy behind the process is phenomenal,” Alex said. “I think everybody there left the workshop with some type of game plan.” Alex plans to apply the concept of asset mapping to both his congregation at St. John’s, and to his volunteer work.
Members of Lutheran Children and Family Service’s Olney Senior Program celebrated the 100th birthday of Onofre “Carlos” Escorpizo. Carlos is a very active and well-liked member, who came to the Program in 1999, at the age of 87, as a volunteer. Continue reading →

When Larry Gershman joined our organization 15 years ago as the CFO of Lutheran Children and Family Service (LCFS), things were quite different. Liberty Lutheran had not yet come together, and LCFS had only 150 employees. “The organization has grown by leaps and bounds,” said Larry, who is retiring from Liberty Lutheran.
