When Marie Megronigle moved to Artman Judy O’Dore was relieved. “At the time Mom was living alone in her Delaware County home and at 92 years old, we were concerned.”

The Artman staff became her extended family for the next eight years. “These were precious years. Even after a number of health crisis she always bounced back and was able to return to personal care, which was so important to her.” Marie died just 17 days short of her 100th birthday, surrounded by family and staff in the room she considered to be “home”.

Judy and her family promised each other that if Marie’s money ran out, they would keep that to themselves.

“We didn’t want to burden her, and we were so relieved to know that the Benevolent Care Fund was available. This was her home, and the staff became family. Leaving Artman would have broken her heart”.

Liberty Lutheran continues its commitment to caring for residents who have depleted their assets and provides the financial resources they need to remain at Artman and Paul’s Run.
