During this time of year, we are reminded of the hope, love, joy and peace of the holiday season. At our senior communities, we are thankful for you. You give us the tools to provide compassionate care to those who need extra help today, whether living at one of our four communities or in their own home.
At each of our senior communities, “The Household Model” is being implemented. Wings of the residences are being transformed into “neighborhoods” instead of the typical nurses’ station and hallway. This model offers an open, welcoming country kitchen where residents can gather and receive guests, just like they did in their own homes. Here is just one story of how this model changed the life of a resident:
“A resident in one of Liberty Lutheran’s senior communities was confused. Communication was difficult, and our resident wasn’t able to verbalize her thoughts or follow directions. Following the opening of the country kitchen in her neighborhood, the director of healthcare was thrilled to hear this resident ask her if she would like a cup of coffee. To make it an even happier occasion, she asked what she took in it as she reached up to get out a mug, just as she had done in her own kitchen.”
Our staff witness every day the amazing transformation of residents who are more engaged because you cared. We need your support in to help us continue our compassionate care into 2014. Your donation does so much for those we serve. Please give …
Hope to a new resident of one of our senior communities to feel at ease with their new surroundings.
Peace of mind to a daughter or son who knows that Mom is well cared for.
Joy to an elderly man who can proudly stay in his home safely, with the assistance he needs from Liberty at Home.
May you be blessed this holiday season, and I wish you hope, peace and joy for the coming year.
