Each year caring and dedicated volunteers from across the country come together for Camp Noah, to support children who have been impacted by disaster. Liberty’s Lutheran Congregational Services works with Camp Noah, a program of Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota, to raise volunteers and lead week-long day camps, which focus on recovery and building hope and resiliency for young survivors of disaster.

Liberty is committed to providing refugees with hope for a new life in Pennsylvania. Our resettlement services are designed to create a smooth transition to life in the local community and to promote economic self-sufficiency. Among the many ways we help newcomers is through the Philadelphia Refugee Mental Health Collaborative. Led by Liberty’s Lutheran Children and Family Service division, The Philadelphia Refugee Mental Health Collaborative is a group of resettlement agencies, mental health providers, physicians and arts organizations working to link refugees to culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health care.

BOOST Middle School Program Awarded PA Dept of Ed Grant

This year, LCFS’s BOOST program operated in 11 public schools and served more than 900 students in grades K-12.

This year, LCFS’s BOOST program operated in 11 public schools and served more than 900 students in grades K-12.

Hundreds of middle school students in Philadelphia will receive additional educational, emotional and social supports to promote achievement, thanks to a major PA Department of Education grant awarded to our Best Out of School Time (BOOST) program.

Administered by Liberty’s Lutheran Children and Family Service division, BOOST collaborates with the School District of Philadelphia and other partners to provide quality after-school and summer academic enrichment programs for underserved Philadelphia youth. In the past year, LCFS’s BOOST program operated in 11 public schools and served more than 900 students in grades K-12. Lutheran Children and Family Service is among 64 Pennsylvania school districts and community organizations to receive new funding through the federal 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant program.

Lutheran Children and Family Service gives hundreds of refugees hope for a new life in Pennsylvania each year.

A new partnership with The Care and Share Thrift Shoppes in Souderton is helping us provide essential resources for refugees arriving in our area.

Liberty’s Lutheran Children and Family Service gives hundreds of refugees hope for a new life in Pennsylvania each year. As the largest refugee resettlement agency in Pennsylvania, LCFS provides much-needed assistance through our offices in Allentown, Lancaster and Philadelphia. Newcomers receive emergency housing and clothing, health services, assistance with access to community resources, job placement support, assistance enrolling children in school, cultural orientation and much more. Our refugee resettlement services are designed to create a smooth transition to life in the local community and to promote economic self-sufficiency. But we can’t do it alone. We encourage and depend upon local congregations and civic organizations to become involved in welcoming these newcomers to our community.
