With over 10 years of experience in healthcare and medicine, Medical Director at Paul’s Run, Dr. Pitsch, finds great reward in uplifting the well-being of residents throughout this beautiful community. Completing his residency in Family Medicine at Jefferson Northeast and serving as Chief Resident, Dr. Pitsch knew early on that caring for older adults was something he truly enjoyed.

“I began my residency in Emergency Medicine, but I always knew caring for older adults was a big interest of mine. So I switched my residency to Family Medicine and then completed my fellowship in Geriatrics at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM),” he recalls. After completing his fellowship at PCOM, Dr. Pitsch became an instructor and fulfilled his goal to help shape the next generation of medicine. He also worked in multiple long-term care communities, as well as hospice, palliative medicine, and was Medical Director for a home care program.

After gaining valuable experience teaching and practicing medicine, Dr. Pitsch discovered an opportunity with Paul’s Run. “One of my Directors during my residency at Jefferson Northeast told me about Paul’s Run. I was still working at PCOM, and he was trying to get me to come back to the northeast. He told me everything that Paul’s Run had to offer, and I thought it sounded like an amazing opportunity,” he says.

A Wonderful First Impression of Paul’s Run…

“My first impression of the community was that everyone was so inviting. The residents and team members say hello to you as soon as you walk through the door. It feels like a family here,” he reflects. Thrilled to have the opportunity to work with this community, Dr. Pitsch joined the team as Medical Director of Paul’s Run and Associate Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Jefferson Northeast in the summer of 2015.

Within his role, Dr. Pitsch oversees the medical care of residents throughout the entire community. Working with residents in skilled nursing, personal care, and independent living, Dr. Pitsch provides primary care alongside the Jefferson Northeast medical team and Nurse Practitioners at Paul’s Run.  In addition to primary care, the community’s in-house medical and wellness center gives residents on-site access to optometry, podiatry, dermatology, psychiatry, social work and psychology, physical medicine and rehab, and dentistry.

Having convenient access to comprehensive care within the community is a great benefit to our residents. They have medical care within the place they know as home. Our doctors are also part of larger healthcare organizations so residents and families have access to a vast network of experienced specialists.
